FAQ – frequently asked questions about JPD feeding

Frequently asked questions about co-feeding and JPD

Which JPD food is suitable for daily feeding?
Fujiyama is a balanced main food for regular feeding under suitable conditions. In colder or highly variable temperatures, Shogun may be more suitable.

What is the difference between Yamato and Shori?
Yamato is focused on color intensity and skin quality. Shori is a protein-rich growth feed for warm, stable feeding phases.

When is Yamato suitable?
Yamato is described for active feeding phases starting at approximately 15 °C water temperature. In addition, feeding behavior and water quality are crucial factors.

When can I use Shori?
Shori is suitable for warm and stable conditions from about 18 °C. Due to the high protein content, filter performance and oxygen supply are particularly important.

What can be useful in changing water temperatures?
Shogun is a highly digestible feed based on wheat and is particularly suitable for changing and cooler conditions. The same applies here: do not feed it if the koi are not taking in any food or if the temperature makes feeding pointless.

What is Fujizakura intended for?
Fujizakura is a special food for conditioning and sensitive situations such as changing the water of koi or during stress phases. It is not a medication.

How much food do my Koi need?
The amount depends on factors such as fish size, temperature, feeding activity and filter performance. Calculations based on fish length only provide estimates. Always observe whether the portion is actually consumed.

What does floating feed mean?
The pellets initially remain on the surface. This allows you to observe whether all the fish are eating and whether any food remains.

Where can I buy JPD?
